Special Places

September 18th would have been my good friend Jack Hannan’s 38th birthday. Everyone who knew him still misses him terribly. Brittany and I headed out for a late afternoon hike to one of Jack’s favorite spots- an amazing fishing hole beneath spectacular waterfalls in a rugged but surprisingly accessible canyon. Here are a few photos:

It’s a magical place, and every time I’ve been here it’s a plainly obvious fact how special is is. I can see why Jack loved to come down here and catch fish with his dog Irie. Those of us who spend a lot of time outdoors know that there are certain places in the world that have that “certain something” that makes them stand out above the rest, no matter the time of year. I’m sure we all have a few places like that. In any case, a few more photos…

    What a beautiful hike and waterfall. Could you please tell me how to access it from Crested Butte?
