The Ballpoint Pen. 4.19.13

As Brittany explained in her Pencil Trip Report, we weren’t really planning on skiing this area, but thanks to a dead snowmobile, it’s where we ended up. On a recent ski of the Quill, I had noted a side couloir that my buddy Gary Hicks is pretty into, and it looked amazing- so that’s where Ben Furimsky and I headed. It ended up being a beautiful line, one of my favorites in fact, so it ended up being a great day. I’ve never heard it called anything, so to continue on the theme of that area, I’m just calling it the Ballpoint Pen for now.
People rarely watch our videos, but I think this one’s pretty fun, despite all the jumpturns- the quick look uphill around 1:54 is of the Quill- and yes, it’s that steep. Gets really skinny at 1:10. Check it out:

yes gary was notorious for skiing this one alone pre children. it was his go to line for sure.

Looks sick Frank, but your buddy that got first tracks owes you at least 10 beers.
That was one of those rare occasions where I was actually better off as the second guy. There was a bit of a crust that skier #1 broke apart, so if anything, I owe him beers 🙂
