Bear to Doctor’s 8.28.09
(Last Updated On: September 3, 2009)
Last weekend I had some out of town visitors that I showed some of the trails around here. I’ve known Mark since the 5th grade, and he’s the one who got me into mountain biking. He had just gotten a Raleigh Grand Teton, circa 1986, which had the uber-cool new feature known as index shifting! I eventually got a Diamond Back Curaca, which wasn’t nearly as cool since it lacked index shifting, and we would ride all the trails in our neighborhood in the foothills west of Golden. It’s safe to say I learned most of my riding skills from Mark.
These days I ride a bit more than Mark, and he was coming up from Seattle, but the dude can still ride and abide. Thursday afternoon we did a quick ride to Green Lake. Not many shots of that other than the lake…
I always find it interesting what people take a liking to when visiting my home of Crested Butte. I liked this shot that Mark took of old town hall and Gothic- pretty much sums up Crested butte for me..
On Friday I talked Mark and his friend from the PNW, Kevin, into doing both Bear Creek and Doctor’s Park. I decided that this would let them ride the best part of the classic Reno/Flag/Bear/Deadman’s loop, plus Doctor’s. The only problem would be that it’s almost 40 miles and they had just gotten here from sea level. We mostly got shots from Bear Creek- here’s one of me…
Mark can carve a turn on a bike, no problem:
The climb up doctor’s was a tough on e for the sea-level dwellers…
Doctor’s Park was just too good for stopping and photo-taking, so that’s about it… Awesome day, which we followed up by riding 401 the next day with Brittany. Maybe a few more photos on that later..
