Fall Ride on the Dyke Trail

(Last Updated On: )

Some trails never get old. I can ride them over and over again without loss of love, never getting bored of each twist or turn or bump or stump. The Dyke is one of those trails.

It was just before the second snowstorm of the season rolled it. My friend Susan and I had plans for a fall ride on the Dyke Trail and we actually bumped it up a day to avoid the oncoming front. It was surprisingly warm for October. And wonderfully beautiful at the same time.

Here’s a few pics.

The trail through the forest was enticing with golden leaves all around.

The scenery on the Dyke is more magical in the fall.

I soaked in the last of the rainbow-tree scene, knowing that this would likely be the last of it for the season.

The downhill on the Dyke is one of the best.

But, perhaps the views at the end of the trail are some of the best of all:

The next day the storm came. With the storm came high winds, causing most of the leaves on our trees to fall for the season. But, it also dropped some fresh snow on our highest peaks – enough for us to enjoy our first ski outing.

I am glad to have had one last taste of fall before it really vanished with the wind πŸ™‚

  • Why do you always leave me speechless with your stories & pics! Short of adjectives to describe how beautiful it’s over there! Thx for sharing this beauty!

Thanks Michal! I run out of adjectives too. That’s why I sometimes just post pictures. As they say, “A picture is worth a thousand words” πŸ™‚

  • Oh yeah! That is the best time to ride the Dyke trail. So jealous and yet so thankful you got out there and got some cool photos! Lets meet up in Fruita next month since winter seems to not be here yet. πŸ˜‰
