After Saturday’s storm, we woke up to bluebird skies. Not having ventured into the backcountry in a couple of weeks, Frank and I were feeling the itch. We convinced our visiting friends, Lauren and Mike, to join us. Avy danger was still considerable so we played it safe in Red Lady glades.
Axtell, one of our favorite backcountry playgrounds.
The views kept getting better as we climbed higher. The Castles in the distance.
The valley, town, and ski area below.
Red Lady bowl on a considerable day.
The summit views revealed icing on all the Elk fourteeners. Capitol and Snowmass.
One on my hit list- Owen.
The glades were as good as they get! Lauren.
Fun day out! And kudos to Lauren for her first “summit ski” 🙂
