After a long stint away from Crested Butte’s backcountry (partly due to dangerous conditions, partly due to continual travels), Frank and I finally decided to venture out to see what our snowpack had to offer. Avoiding a shallow snowpack near town, we traveled deeper- into a blizzard while the weather was nearly sunny in town. It’s amazing what a difference just a few miles can make. We found a deep, fairly stable snowpack, covered with new, dense, and very wind affected snow. All the same, we found some good turns in sheltered areas. Enjoy the snow show 🙂
