TR: Our Playground (20 & 21 March 2018)
(Last Updated On: April 4, 2018)
This winter has been unseasonably warm. But, just as the calendar turned to spring, our weather returned to winter. Cold temperatures and fresh snow hovered in our mountains and it felt more like early February than the first days of spring.
But, with the change of seasons came a more stable snowpack which we were eager to step out into more aggressive backcountry skiing terrain – putting one of the sketchiest winters in our past. To our winter Playground we must go!
I head out there on the first day of spring with our friends Mark & Sam. Yep, it felt like winter. In fact, we kept talking about how cold it felt all day.
We pulled off a couple of laps in the Playground, but I only caught a few pictures of Mark:
It was so good that the next day Frank and I went back for more…
Frank on the first run:
Me.
2nd Lap. Me.
Frank:
We left the Playground reluctant to head into work, with smiles on our faces, and happy to be able to venture safely into a little more aggressive backcountry ski terrain. Here’s to a great start to spring skiing, and may there be many more great days to come!
