FBF: Fruita Fun Rides – Part 2 – 18 Road Zone
(Last Updated On: )
Referring back to Part 1 of Fruita Fun Rides, last fall was about as good as it gets for riding a bike. I went under the knife for the 2nd of two surgeries to repair my ACL on November 15th, and two days later winter struck for the season. I guess the timing was perfect, really.
Just before my surgery, I took one last trip to Fruita where I enjoyed many of the trails that the 18 Road zone has to offer. Riding in this area is much different than much of the other riding around Fruita, Loma, Mack, Rabbit Valley, and Grand Junction because it sits in a different geologic layer. Instead of the epic sandstone slickrock and huge canyon views, 18 Road riding makes you feel like you’re in a barren otherworldly landscape, more reminiscent of a Star Wars movie set than one on planet Earth. Less technical than some of the other areas, 18 Road still has it’s own flavor of flowy fun. I like it more and more each time I ride here.
And that is where I will leave this post – because the pictures will really do a better job of showing what this unique landscape has to offer.

With spring on board, riding in Fruita is great. So, be sure to get in a trip there soon!
