TR: Backcountry Skiing on Huntsman Ridge (6 Feb 2016)
(Last Updated On: February 25, 2016)
After skiing backcountry near Aspen the day before, we connected with our friend Ann Driggers, and did some exploring on Huntsman Ridge. We did not know much about the area. But, I can tell you, I’d happily go back.
We skinned for awhile in a beautiful aspen forest, only to emerge onto the ridge to gaze upon some fantastic views.
Our playground for the day.
More scenic skinning.
Hard not to admire Chair from here. Let’s ski that!
Looking over toward Yule Pass, the backside of Crested Butte.
Now for the skiing part. Ann.
Skinning back up for another lap. Ann’s in her happy place!
Lap 2. Ann.
Lap 3 probably provided the most amazing views.
Our last lap took us back to the car, where we enjoyed an amazing sunset on the way home!
If your winter plans have you heading over McClure Pass, Huntsman Ridge is worth the stop! Check it out!
