TR: Backcountry Skiing in the Anthracites (5 Dec 2011)

(Last Updated On: )

With a little bit of fresh snow, we decided to check out the status of the backcountry. The Anthracites are still easily reachable as it is possible to drive a car far up the Kebler Pass road. However, I suspect this will change the next storm or two. The snow was still quite thin in the Anthracites, with a punchy layer beneath the few inches of fresh, making from some interesting and inconsistent turns. Nevertheless, our pics from backcountry skiing in the Anthracites pics are worth sharing:)

  • Nice turns! Can’t wait to visit again this season.

  • Pics look much different than usual.. any different filters you are using or perhaps a different camera? Either way, great effect. Especially that last one where you can see the eyes.

Hah, I’d like to say I was so sophisticated as to use a different filter! I simply changed my camera options to take B&W photos!
