The 2017 Snoqualmie, Washington Off-Piste Ski Atlas is a lightweight, concise guidebook that is chock full of information and photos to get you where you want to go in the backcountry around Snoqualmie Pass.
Written by Matt Schonwald, guide and founder of BC Adventure Guides, this edition is published by Crested Butte / Gunnison’s Andy Sovick. Also a Fort Lewis alumni, Sovick drew on both his past and more recent backcountry experiences in the Silverton area. This guide features 80 routes that span from low-angle trees to 60-degree chutes that require a rappel and provides basic information like like where to start, where to finish, a brief description of where you’ll find the skin track, and a few other tips and tricks. This guide is also equipped with an avalanche terrain exposure scale so skiers can make wise decisions based on the conditions for the day. This guidebook also provides aspect and slope information in graphic form, as well as a host of other information signified with other icons. Read our review.
