Brittany and I heading towards Gothic Mountain:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/s244.photobucket.com\/albums\/gg23\/franksblog\/401%20mark%20visit%2009\/?action=view&#038;current=Summer09bikephotosMW046.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i244.photobucket.com\/albums\/gg23\/franksblog\/401%20mark%20visit%2009\/Summer09bikephotosMW046.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Photobucket\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Emerald Lake never gets old:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/s244.photobucket.com\/albums\/gg23\/franksblog\/401%20mark%20visit%2009\/?action=view&#038;current=Summer09bikephotosMW052.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i244.photobucket.com\/albums\/gg23\/franksblog\/401%20mark%20visit%2009\/Summer09bikephotosMW052.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Photobucket\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The only technically challenging part of a 401 ride is the &#8220;Black Hole&#8221;.  This ravine looks nearly impossible, but riders do clear it from time to time.  The trick is committing to riding it- a halfhearted attempt won&#8217;t get you far.
