On of the great things about living in the mountains is that you can actually squeeze in a quick ride or ski with a limited amount of time. Right now, there is just barely enough daylight, enough snow, and good enough access for a fast afternoon lap. If the access was more difficult, or we were past the time change, this wouldn’t quite work out, but for now, it’s nice to have the option. We ascended the east facing slopes where the sun had already gone down:

We topped out on our line at the same time the sun’s last rays faded off the highest peaks, leaving just enough light to ski.

The light was a little tough, but the recycled powder was easy enough to ski despite the low light.

Five or ten more minutes and we would have needed our headlamps, but we made it back to the car in the nick of time. All in all a great way to spend a late afternoon.
