Just remember 2007-2008.  Here&#8217;s a couple of shots from Thanksgiving weekend in 2007. I&#8217;m not sure if we&#8217;ll go all the way to Thanksgiving this season with it looking so dry, but in any case things changed in a hurry back in 2007.  Just one week after the photos above, things were looking decidedly more winter-like.<br \/>\n<!--more READ MORE!--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/14erskiers.com\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/tbt-2007-08\/cJones-Pass-and-Torreys-Nov.-2007-217.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" alt=\"huge snowfall in crested butte\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" \/><\/p>\n<p>2007-08 remains my favorite season of all time, with local backcountry areas like Schofield Pass and Irwin racking up gigantic totals of roughly 900&#8243; for the year.  Last year, it was dry well into November as well, and 2016-17 was another great year in the Crested Butte area (but no, for those of you with short term memories, it was not as good as &#8217;07-&#8217;08).  I&#8217;m still hoping we&#8217;ll have another one just like it this season.
