This trail heads up a mile further to the top of <a href=\"https:\/\/14erskiers.com\/blog\/2015\/09\/hiking-between-crested-butte-aspen-comparing-west-maroon-and-east-maroon-passes\/\" target=\"_blank\">East Maroon pass<\/a>, and continues down into Aspen.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/14erskiers.com\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/copperlake_aug2012\/P1050077copperlake.jpg\" alt=\"Hike to Copper Lake by East Maroon Pass, near Crested Butte\" class=\"alignnone size-large\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We contemplated heading toward the pass, but we could see the clouds swirling and stacking around us signaling storms in the near future.
