I first met Mike in Las Lenas a few years back.\u00a0 While I never knew him well, he was still someone I would stop and have a chat with whenever I saw him.\u00a0 Mike was a bit of a throwback, always bootpacking rather than snowshoeing or splitboarding like most bc snowboarders.\u00a0 He went alone more often than not.\u00a0 This year’s poor snowpack finally caught up to him, and he became CO’s second avalanche fatality of the year.\u00a0 Kudos to the SAR folks who were able to find him despite the dangerous and difficult conditions.\u00a0 RIP, Mike<\/p>\n
