Yeah Mike, I still need to do the Spring Creek to Cataract section myself. Kind of a huge shuttle, though, so I'm not sure how to connect it.

Snow Mesa-Miner's is terrific as well, though finding all of the singletrack on Miner's creek won't be easy if you don't know the way. Cross the willows by a pole after the doubletrack starts, that's all I can say.

Combining Cataract and Snow Mesa makes for an amazing weekend of SJ adventure riding. One of these trips, I'm going to try to make it to South Fork, as I hear the riding there is becoming excellent.

We will be heading back for another attempt at Cataract Ridge. Last year we got a late start at Spring Creek Pass and had to descend West Lost Trail Creek (which was fantastic itself). We are determined to start much earlier this year and finish the full Spring Creek -> West Pole...

Sounds like we should plan on Snow->Miner's for the second day, eh?

Hi Joe, no problem. Hopefully the weather holds out for you- that area, as well as CB where I'm at right now, are under a Winter Weather Advisory right now. Snowline currently looks to be around 11k.

I have not yet taken the W Lost trail route- I've only gone up the "main" Lost trail creek route and connected with the CT near the old ghost town site of Carson. Some other riders ascended W lost trail, and that route seemed to work as well, but it does miss a pretty sweet section of the CT as I describe it here. I'll probably stick with what I've been doing. 35mi, 6k seems like the right ballpark. PS- If you can also pull off Snow Mesa-Miner's creek--- do it!

Frank, thanks for the report of the return trip. Been wanting to do Cataract Ridge since I first read your original entry, and hearing Mike C. recently say he'd prefer to do laps up there vs. anywhere else on the CT has me convinced. Can I trouble you for some further detail? Weather permitting, I'm heading up there in about 8 days to do the ride w/ 2 buds. Our planned route is to ascend from the trailhead up West Lost, roll along the CT, then descend West Pole to Pole and then back on Stoney Pass Rd. I'm guessing that's around a 35-mile, 6k feet day. Am I in the right ballpark? I'd be grateful if you had such info and were willing to share. Just wanting to make sure I know what we're in for. Thanks! BTW, fantastic photos!
