Clearly a skiing error (and in the grand scheme of things, a fairly small one - better to stop up against a tree than in front of a cliff) rather than an avalanche awareness one. Loose snow on steep slopes move when you ski through it, just part of the game.

I like where your head is at Frank. Slough Management is a fun and enjoyable type of skiing. If we can't ski a line because the snow is moving on it a bit, that to me severely limits what we are and aren't able to ski, and if one keeps their head about them, it is reasonable to ski these lines in an enjoyable fashion. Ahem..Landry Line a couple weeks ago was some pretty serious slough management. I had fun.

Nice vid Frank and a good discussion. I like your point about Nick being a strong enough skier to ski out in front of anything that moves. I wish I got to practice more slough management here in Colorado. I am very conservative in my decision making in general and part of that is my experience with moving snow. That being said, I'll normally ski something if I think I have some slough to deal with but am not as worried about slab issues.
