CLOSING SOON:
The USFS is currently proposing to close a number of trails to mountain bikes in the Crested Butte area. The exact details can be viewed here:

Some of the trails which would be closed to mountain bikers include the following: green lake/baxter gulch, and Eccher gulch. There are other trails which will also be closed, such as 413 above Taylor reservoir, but speaking with USFS representatives, we don’t have much of a chance to save the other trails, but green lake and Eccher are still “in play”. These are some of my favorite trails, so I am doing what I can to save them. Please send an email here: r2_gmug_gunnison_travel@fs.fed.us
Please tell the USFS not to close these trails (make sure to mention them in particular) and please send this link to anyone else you know who also cares about the local trails. Comments must be made by June 3, 2009.
