On April 15th, we ended up doing at least 15 miles a few thousand vert on the Redwell-Peeler tour. We started off by doing the Red Lady hike. This mountain has long been a target of Molybdenum mining, but thankfully the last month has brought some excellent news. First, one of the largest law firms in the world agreed to fight to save Red Lady, pro bono. Then, one of the mining companies seeking to mine here, Kobex, pulled out citing local opposition among other factors. Hopefully there will never be a mine here in Red Lady bowl:

We skied the far left side of Redwell basin, something that I have had my eye on for years,although it wasn’t as steep as it looks from the summit of Emmons. Pete:

We then headed up the amazing Peeler basin towards Peeler Peak. The avalanche paths had us picturing huge slides snapping trees 30′ up:

The winds were crazy this afternoon- Pete literally blew over on the summit of Peeler. Still, we found good North-facing snow (Luke):
