Ted Mahon and Al Beyer climbed and skied a new route on the West face of Capital yesterday. In so doing, Ted became the third skier to ski all the fourteeners. Talking to Ted on the phone, it sounded like a gnarly route (what route on Capital isn’t gnarly!), with lots of ropework for the ski down and lots of exposure. The photos he sent a little later confirmed that the route was indeed a tough one.
What a great weekend of people gettin’ er done in the Elks last weekend. Friday, a first descent of the E face of Thunder Pyramid was skied. Saturday, the North face of North Maroon got skied, Pyramid’s Landry line was both climbed and skied, and a group summited (S)Maroon as well (not sure if they were skiers or climbers)
