2 days post-op (Thyroid)

Posted by – August 5, 2009

Well, it’s now been over 48 hours after my thyroid surgery. I’m feeling quite good actually. My neck pain has largely gone away. Mostly now it’s just stiff. I don’t have nearly as hard of a time swallowing today either. My main complaint now is just the congestion. I feel like I have a really bad chest cold or something….

    I logged on one day and saw the “More about thyroid nodules” and was like wtf. Then I read a few posts earlier haha.
    great news that the tumor is benign.
    Looking forward to your tr’s this winter.
    Have a healthy season.

    P.S. you should try the vikes with milk or eat half of one for the pain. If they’re 550mg pills, they are 5mg hydrocodone and the rest is acetominophen. So it’s 90% tylenol.

    Thanks Phil! I tried the vicodin with milk, etc. My stomach wasn’t able to handle anything at the time. I’m not sure if it was the mild or the vicodin. And now, I have so little pain that I just don’t need it. I’m taking Tylenol (plain) and that seems to be plenty to manage my pain.

  3. Dear Brittany;

    I am very happy to hear that you’re feeling a bit better after your thyroid surgery. I am very sorry, of course that you had to endure it. I wish you good health and healing.

    Thank you very much for taking the time to stop by Dear Thyroid. We hope you’ll visit again soon and when you’re ready, participate in our community. Each of our writers have thyroid disease or thyroid cancer. They write letters and other literary things to their thyroids, humorously, irreverently, angrily, lovingly and most importantly, honestly. I am so proud of each and every one of them. As proud of them as I am of you for speaking out and up about your thyroid story. It’s not an easy thing to write about.

    Wishing you the very best,
    Katie

    Teachers and other staff members often know the importance of this work in theory, but pay little attention to it in practice. ,
